María Matilde Alea Fernández (1918-2006) was a cuban composer and pianist with a Doctorate in Pedagogy. She wrote songs, boleros, lieder, sons and other genres of music, almost all inspired in the cuban musical traditions. She was one of Elena's teachers at the Conservatory in Havana. These four pieces are part of Alea's most distinguished works "Miniaturas Rítmicas Cubanas".
